jaunuomenė

perskaičiau nick barham – disconnected: why our kids are turning their backs on everything we thought we knew. nelabai supratau, ar aš papuoliau į tikslinę knygos auditoriją: lyg ir nebe paauglys, apie kuriuos rašoma, bet ir nepakankamai susenęs, kad turėčiau neaišku ką veikiančių vaikų. nepaisant to, knyga man buvo įdomi ir patiko. labai profesionalus tyrinėtojo žvilgsnis į šiuolaikinę britų jaunimo kultūrą. jokių moralizavimų ar prikaišiojimų, tik noras suprasti kaip viskas yra. autorius bando atsakyti į klausimą “ar tikrai jaunimas toks niekam tikęs, kaip pateikia žiniasklaida?”. aišku visas dėmesys sufokusuotas į “problematiškus” individus ir veiklas.
buvo kilę šiek tiek problemų :)

iOS UI Proportions (from Principia Arbiter: New Visual Proportions for the iOS User Interface, via Timoni West)
One thing I’ve noticed in a lot of custom iOS UIs (particularly ones designed by engineers) is a lack of attention to proportions. As this diagram demonstrates, the standard iOS UI has a visual rhythm—a major rhythm of 44 pixels and a minor rhythm of 11 pixels to be exact. When you work within this system for your sizing, spacing, and padding, your app will generally look and feel harmoniously iOS-like, even if the UI is heavily custom. When you don’t, it tends feels subtly off (as in the iPod playlist screen example given in the article).

This is super weird. Why are so many more babies born in the summer? I guess the winter blues really get to people? Crazy …

Internet artists, for all of their digital-native wisdom, should know better than to think .JPEGs are a viable commodity when they’ve seen multi-billion dollar industries like music, film, and newspapers run around like baffled idiots for the past decade trying to figure out why they can’t sell MP3s, MOVs, and PDFs like they used to in traditional media.
