kadaise susigundžiau nusipirkti peter carey – oskaras ir liusinda, nes buvo atkainuota, patiko viršelis ir šiek tiek sudomino paskutinio puslapio anotacija. pagalvojau, kad reikia susipažinti su australijos rašytojais :) o varge vargeli. turėjau labiau įsižiūrėti į autoriaus nuotrauką. dabar matau, kad jis ten išsidrėbęs, kaip pasipūtęs mulkis. stora storulė knyga davatkoms ir davatkūnams.
suprantu, kad rašant reikia apibūdinti žmones ir vietoves, bet ši knyga pilna tokio tuščiažodžiavimo, kad net pikta. pasislėpęs siužeto siūlas vos vos išlaikė mano dėmesį ir kantrybę. nežinau, ko aš tikėjausi pasiimdamas knygą apie dvasininkus, meilę ir istoriją. galima paspringti dulkių kamuoliais.
nežinau autoriaus tai ar vertėjo kaltė, bet vietomis pritrūkus žodžių, išsprūsta tokie šiuolaikiniai palyginimai ar išsireiškimai, besipjaunantys su aprašinėjimu laikmečiu, kad net nežinai, juokinga ar graudu. nepirkit, neskaitykit, atiduokit pagyvenusiems giminėms.
